According to ESPN, Abdullah's foot injury, which landed him on injured reserve after Week 2, will not permit him to return this season. Injured reserve rules allow for every team to activate one player who misses at least eight weeks.
Analysis: Abdullah, the Lions' leading rusher with 101 yards on 18 carries this season, hobbled off the field after a 24-yard run late in the second quarter. He has caught five passes for 57 yards and a touchdown. Initial X-rays on the foot showed no broken bones but Abdullah went to Charlotte, N.C., on Tuesday for a second opinion with specialist Dr. Robert Anderson, according to ESPN.

Analysis: Theo Riddick will carry the load while Abdullah is sidelined.

Analysis: Abdullah, the Lions' leading rusher with 101 yards on 18 carries this season, hobbled off the field after a 24-yard run late in the second quarter. He's scheduled to get a second opinion on his foot this week. If Abdullah can't play, Theo Riddick will start at running back and rookie Dwayne Washington will see an expanded role as a backup.

Analysis: The full severity of Abdullah's injury is not yet known but losing him after he gained 101 yards on 18 carries in less than six quarters would be a big blow for Detroit. His absence would open up more time for Theo Riddick and Dwayne Washington.
|Sep. 11, 20165:25 PM PT6:25 PM MT7:25 PM CT8:25 PM ET0:25 GMT8:25 AM 北京时间5:25 PM MST7:25 PM EST7:25 PM CT4:25 UAE (+1)20:25 ET23:25 - Abdullah totaled 120 yards of total offense in Sunday's win over the Colts, rushing for 63 yards on 12 attempts and catching five passes for 57 yards.
Analysis: In the Lions' pass-happy offense, Abdullah is going to put up eye-popping numbers, but his receptions out of the backfield in Week 1 is an encouraging sign. He had just 25 catches for 183 yards as a rookie last season.
|June 15, 20167:26 PM PT8:26 PM MT9:26 PM CT10:26 PM ET2:26 GMT10:26 AM 北京时间7:26 PM MST9:26 PM EST9:26 PM CT6:26 UAE (+1)22:26 ET1:26 - For a Lions team that ranked 32nd in rushing last year, the hope is that Abdullah can make considerable improvement in 2016. He showed promise as a rookie, averaging 4.2 yards per carry, but five fumbles limited his touches and he is not practicing because of a shoulder injury.
Analysis: The only information Abdullah provided about his shoulder injury this winter when surgery only became public knowledge a few weeks ago was that he suffered it "playing football." Abdullah has yet to practice this offseason, and coach Jim Caldwell wouldn't commit to him being more involved this season at this point.
