A week after feeling a twinge in his left side while throwing batting practice, Garza said Sunday that he's progressing and getting better. He says there is just a "little spot that's annoying." Manager Dale Sveum says the problem is "very slight" and that Garza gets better every day.
Analysis: The pitcher was limited to 18 starts in 2012 because of an elbow injury. He was going through his most extensive work since last July when he felt something a week ago. Garza wore a bulky wrap around his midsection in the Cubs clubhouse Sunday. He isn't sure when he will throw again, but hopes to in the next few days.

Analysis: Garza felt a twinge in his side on Sunday, when he faced batters for the first time since last July. He underwent an MRI on Monday which revealed a "mild strain" in his side. General manager Jed Hoyer said Garza must be pain free before he does any more throwing. Hoyer called the diagnosis good news and said Garza is in good spirits. He went 5-7 with a 3.91 ERA last season, but didn't make any starts after July 21 because of an elbow issue.
