Analysis: The club needed Leon after it placed catcher Jhonatan Solano on the 15-day disabled list with a strained oblique muscle earlier.

Analysis: Leon was crouched to take a relay throw from shortstop Danny Espinosa as San Diego's Chase Headley tried to score on Orlando Hudson's single to center field on Monday night. The throw got past Leon just before Headley bowled into him, causing the catcher's right ankle to buckle under him. Leon rose and limped a few steps before dropping to his knees. Leon was called up from Double-A Harrisburg Sunday to replace catcher Wilson Ramos, who tore his ACL on Saturday.
