June 28 3:00 PM PT4:00 PM MT5:00 PM CT6:00 PM ET18:00 ET22:00 GMT6:00 3:00 PM MST5:00 PM EST5:30 PM VEN2:00 UAE (+1)5:00 PM CT-Nuno rebounded from two awful starts to pitch two-hit ball into the sixth inning, and the New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 6-0 on Friday night in the opener of a series between struggling powers.
Analysis: New York manager Joe Girardi could have skipped the struggling Nuno (2-4) and given the ball to rookie ace Masahiro Tanaka because of the extra day of rest. Nuno rewarded Girardi with 5 2-3 impressive innings after he gave up a total of 13 runs in 9 1-3 innings in losses to Oakland and Baltimore. He yielded a leadoff single to Jonny Gomes in the second and a one-out double in the third to Brock Holt. Nuno then retired 10 straight before walking his last batter.
June 22 11:45 AM PT12:45 PM MT1:45 PM CT2:45 PM ET14:45 ET18:45 GMT2:45 11:45 AM MST1:45 PM EST2:15 PM VEN22:45 UAE1:45 PM CT-Nuno fell to 1-4 on Saturday. He allowed three home runs and has served up 13 in 39 1-3 innings this season at home, where he is 0-3 with a 7.09 ERA.
Analysis: Nuno is having a hard time with the homer-friendly dimensions at Yankee Stadium. He was rocked in his previous outing in Oakland and is 0-4 since beating the Los Angeles Angels on May 7. "This is what we have. And as I said, it's not like there's just starting pitchers lying around out there," manager Joe Girardi said, explaining that Nuno will stay in the rotation. "Right now, this is what it is."
