Analysis: After running to cover first on an infield hit by Didi Gregorius in the fourth, Shoemaker visited with the team trainer before heading to the dugout. The severity of the injury has yet to be determined, but the last thing the Angels need is another DL stint to a member of their injury-riddled rotation.

Shoemaker struck out four, ending the game with a 4.22 ERA and 1.26 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Shoemaker wasn't at his best but still managed to win for the fifth time in six starts. He's given up four runs in three of those games, and Shoemaker has just 17 strikeouts in his last four games, so he is not a great fantasy option despite his record.

And every time he faces the Tigers, he still gets texts and phone calls from old friends. "Every game's important, but something about playing against your home team is special," Shoemaker said.

|Apr. 27 6:58 AM PT7:58 AM MT8:58 AM CT9:58 AM ET9:58 ET13:58 GMT21:58 6:58 AM MST8:58 AM EST9:28 AM VEN17:58 UAE8:58 AM CT-Shoemaker thought only about his team, not how far he had come personally since a line drive that hit off the right side of his head and led to brain surgery last September. Shoemaker battled through five innings for his first victory since that injury, helping the Los Angeles Angels beat the Oakland Athletics 8-5 on Wednesday night.
Analysis: Shoemaker (1-1) went five innings in his fifth start of the season. He was injured on a hit in Seattle by Kyle Seager last September. He experienced no problems in spring training in returning to the mound and the only thing he was missing this season was run support.
|Apr. 20 4:21 PM PT5:21 PM MT6:21 PM CT7:21 PM ET19:21 ET23:21 GMT7:21 4:21 PM MST6:21 PM EST6:51 PM VEN3:21 UAE (+1)6:21 PM CT-The Astros mustered just enough offense against Shoemaker on Thursday, with Carlos Beltran and Jake Marisnick clubbing solo home runs in Houston's 2-1 win.
Analysis: Shoemaker was splendid otherwise, allowing just three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over seven innings. However, he's allowed six homers in 21 2/3 innings thus far.

Analysis: It was the right-hander's second start since his season ended early last September due to a line drive to his head off the bat of Seattle's Kyle Seager. His next outing will be Saturday at Kansas City.
|Apr. 5 9:08 AM PT10:08 AM MT11:08 AM CT12:08 PM ET12:08 ET16:08 GMT0:08 9:08 AM MST11:08 AM EST11:38 AM VEN20:08 UAE11:08 AM CT-Shoemaker allowed two runs on a pair of solo homers but only two other hits in five innings, walking three and striking out four in a no-decision Tuesday in his much-anticipated return to the mound.
Analysis: It was Shoemaker's first regular-season outing since he was hit by a line drive off Kyle Seager's bat in Seattle last September, an injury that required surgery to stop bleeding in his brain. The right-hander wore a carbon-fiber protective insert under his cap to protect an area where a titanium plate was inserted on his skull. ''It felt pretty good. A little erratic with the location, but overall it felt pretty good,'' said Shoemaker, who threw 99 pitches.
